Burgmann College was the first Australian college to combine undergraduate accommodation with a substantial postgraduate student body. With over 350 students, roughly one third of whom are postgraduates, there are a variety of rooms to choose from. There are two sections to the College, the undergraduate wings and the postgraduate village. The cost for each type of room is available under 2012 Costs.
Undergraduate Rooms
The two original wings of the college, Homer (named after the poet) and Barassi (named after the Aussie Rules Football player) provide single room accommodation for students, with larger 'double rooms' available to students with a history of contribution to college. All residents living in these wings are fully catered, with meals provided at set times in the central College Dining Room.
Each wing has 3 floors with two resident advisors (RAs) living at each end of the floor (for a total of 12 undergraduate resident advisors). All floors have a different theme, chosen by the RAs at the start of the year. In the past we have seen Super Heroes take on Super Villains, Harry Potter, Red and Times Covers! The hub of activity on each floor is the Convo area - a recess in the middle of the floor with lounge chairs for informal gatherings. Every fortnight the RAs host Tim Tams in Convo; a social get together over a few packets of Tim Tams to chat, discuss floor events and relax.
