This opportunity to learn first hand about the first people's connection to the land and the wisdom gained throughout their long history, is priceless and timeless. The experience is moving, inspiring and life-affirming. I will always cherish what I learned from Den the man, which is far more than I could ever learn from a history book or botanical blog. Everyone should experience this intimate connection to the land by its traditional custodians at least once in their lives. It offers not only key knowledge, but a universal message of respect for the land and all who live on it, with a deep and lasting message of hope.

This was a great experience, fairly priced, with Den and colleagues. A casual walk around the gardens venturing where we had never been before, provided with interesting information, presented in a conversational manner. It was not rushed but purposefully presented with humor and thought. I highly recommend this session.

Listening & learning from Uncle Den was awesome. He connected with old, young, local & international perspectives in the group & really quickly built the respect & understanding of our need to connect to & respect country. The mix of humour, info & discussion to provoke deeper reflection & challenge within the group was pretty damn cool in such a short amount of time. I’n already recommending it to anyone & everyone!!

Great guided tour. Gardens are immaculately kept. Credit to the garden staff. The tour is as slow pace but perhaps children might get bored.

This experience is definitely one to do! Den was an amazing guide - he is friendly, knowledgeable and very funny! The tour is an incredible experience and opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the land and what it means to indigenous people. It’s also great to reflect on Australia and what country means to you. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Being born in Melbourne I have always loved the Royal Botanic Gardens. There is usually something new to explore or just seat peacefully! If you travel to Melbourne the Gardens are a must see and experience, highly recommended. Check their website for more information.

The walk was one of the best indigenous-guided walks that I've been on. Dan, our guide, was very personable and knowledgeable, and was able to share his story in a way that underscored the effects of colonialism on indigenous people. As we learned about native uses for some of the plants, we also learned how diametrically opposed Aboriginal and European worldviews were during the time that Australia was being colonized (and continue to be in modern times).

Den was our Aboriginal guide and he was excellent. This was a very informative and thought provoking tour and enjoyed by visitors and Australians in our group. The Botanic Gardens are stunning and need a lot longer to explore.

The walk is beautiful and informative about the history of this land and practical uses of specific plants. Our guide shared both global and deeply personal perspective on our relationship with land and with each other. Highly recommended.
